Description

Law for Black Lives and the Advocacy for Racial and Civil (ARC) Justice Clinic will host a CLE event on Wednesday October 25, 2023, from 3:30-5 pm at Penn Carey Law School entitled “Free to Learn as Us.” The panel will focus on how lawyers and organizers are advocating to ensure dignity and respect for students of all backgrounds in schools. Panelists will consider legal and organizing strategies for combating a hostile environment, including efforts to challenge book banning, harassment based on race and sex, and overly punitive, criminalized school discipline based on race and immigration status. The event will be open to L4BL members, law students, community members, and lawyers and legal advocates.

COVID-19 Protocol: Masks will be strongly recommended and will be provided for this event.

Accessibility Notes: The building where Fitts Auditorium is located is wheelchair accessible. There is a ramp to the front entrance an elevator to the event space, and an area for wheelchairs in the event space.

We strive to host inclusive, accessible events that enable all individuals to participate fully. To request an accommodation or inquire about accessibility, including language access, please contact marqusee@law.upenn.edu.
